TYPES OF MASSAGES Swedish Massage The therapist uses long strokes, kneading, and friction on the muscles and moves the joints to aid flexibility. Mainly used as relaxation. Deep Tissue Massage Therapist uses patterns of strokes and deep finger pressure on parts of the body where muscles are tight and knotted, focusing on the layers deep under the skin. Trigger Point Massage The therapist uses a variety of strokes but applies deeper, more focused pressure on myofacial trigger points-knots that can form in the muscles, are painful when pressed, and cause symptoms elsewhere in the body as well. Sports Massage The therapist uses a system of movements including gliding, compressings, stretching, and other innovations Sports Massage primarily focuses on the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the body's soft tissues. This massage can be done fully clothed. Reflexology Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet with a premise that such work effects a physical change to the body. Paraffin Bath Hands and Feet The therapist dips the hands and feet in hot paraffin wax three times and slips a bag over each plus a mitten. The wax stays on for about ten to fifteen minutes.
