CARDIO CLASSES

The ultimate empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws a wide variety of disciplines such as Karate, Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi and Muay Thai. Supported by driving music and powerful role model instructors- STRIKE, PUNCH, KICK and KATA your way through calories to superior cardio fitness.

Hip Hop Hustle: Whether you have rhythm or not, you can still get your groove on! This class offers a wide variety of hip hop with the most current music. Instructor has 32 years of experience.

Line Dancing: This 60 minute class will take your from the “freeze” to “Boot-Scoot-boogie.” Fun for all ages!!! Come and bring a friend and dance your way to health! If you are an advanced dancer, try Thursday night’s class!

Step: It’s back……and you’ll love it just like you did in the 80’s! Everyone is welcome to attend this class that moves through patterns designed to burn calories while challenging your mind! Group fitness that is fun and timeless!

T.N.T "Tighten and Tone": Cardio training, strength training, and functional training all come together for this sports specific power packed class. Intensities vary from moderate to intense. This is Slidell Athletic Club’s ultimate group exercise challenge!

Zumba: Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away from salsa to meringue to reggaeton. Our program goal is simple; we want you to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked! NO DANCE EXPERIENCED REQUIRED.

Zumba Toning/Lo Impact: Build body sculpting techniques specific Zumba moves into one calorie burning, strength training class. Use weighted maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks to enhance your lo-impact experience.

 

AQUATICS

Water Aerobics. Water workouts utilizes the resistance and buoyancy that the water provides to increase muscular strength and cardiovascular and muscular endurance. This class is perfect for those with certain health limitations, and it also offers a great cross training option to those who are looking to add something different to their workout.See schedule for class times.

Silver Water. Active adults group water fitness program that is designed to enhance each individual’s quality of life and daily function. Silver Splash utilizes the physical properties of the water to enhance agility, range of motion, and cardiovascular conditioning. No swimming ability is required. 

 

CYCLING

The Endurance Ride: This traditional cycling class is as easy as riding a bike! The Endurance Ride is a 40 – 50 minute class that explores all indoor riding terrains, flat roads and hills. The intensity of the ride remains in endurance training zones offering maximum caloric expenditure while training your body to last for longer periods of time in the endurance “steady state” training zone. Heart rate monitor isn’t mandatory, but strongly recommended!

Short Cycle: Short Cycle is perfect for everyone! A ride that only lasts 30-40 minutes that gives a new rider just enough time on the bike, and gives the seasoned cycling participant a chance to get in done quicker than the full class format with the option of higher intensities. Expect to ride through all indoor cycling terrains, flat roads and hills. Intensity levels will vary in this class from low end endurance to threshold maximum work. Heart rate monitors aren’t mandatory, but strongly recommended!

Interval Ride: This 40-50 minute class follows traditional road riding techniques offering the most diverse ride on our schedule. Riders travel along all indoor cycling terrains, flat roads and hills. The intensity of the ride varies from easy, endurance, endurance edge, and elite training zones to offer riders the unique opportunity to improve their overall fitness levels while burning calories.

The Performance Ride: This 40-45 minute ride truly mimics race day. Riders travel through all indoor cycling terrains; flat roads and hills. The ride intensity is mostly endurance edge/threshold and competitive cardiovascular zones to teach your heart, body, and lungs to last at higher intensities for longer periods of time. You don’t have to be a road cyclist to participate. But buckle up! Cause it’s a real road ride!

STRENGTH/RESISTANCE TRAINING

The most successful group fitness program in history. Body Pump is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60 minute workout challenges all your major muscles groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for --- and fast!

B-F.I.T.: “Balance-Flex, Isolate, and Tone”. This class is perfect because it provides all fitness levels with the opportunity to train strength without a barbell. Improve your flexibility and balance. And get stronger using functional movements and exercises.

KIDS CLASSES

B.A.M. (Body and Motion). A great fitness class where kids can have it all…..jumping, running, core, balance, and FUN!!! This class is open to children whose families are members that takes place down at Ohana Pier. Open to children thru age 13.

Family Karate. The martial art of Japanese Origin that practices non-evasive body movements. Learn how to block kicks, punches, and strikes. Kids ages 8 thru 13 attending this class should be accompanied by a parent. 

 

SENIOR CLASSES

Silver Sneakers. HealthCare Dimensions is a national company that promotes through unique physical activity programs. Silver Sneakers fitness Program is the nation’s leading exercise program exclusively designed exclusively for older adults. Great way to get your cardio, toning , balance & core without high impact yet still get high energy!

Silver Sneakers Yoga. Yoga stretch is taught from a seated or standing position to enhance flow and energy created in combination with restorative breathing exercises.

Silver Splash. Older active adults group water fitness program designed to enhance each individual’s quality of life and daily function. Sliver Splash utilizes the physical properties of the water to enhance agility, range of motion and cardiovascular conditioning. There’s even a kickboard to help develop strength, balance and coordination. No swimming ability is required as you learn the format that is safe, fun and effective. Bring your swimsuit, towel and water bottle!

Flexercise. Exercises that have been fostered by American Arthritis Foundation are proven to be effective and Safe. This class focuses on the reduction of bone loss and increasing muscle tissue and joint integrity. This class is ideal for those experiencing inflammatory disease, joint replacement, and/or rehabilitative exercise.

 

YOGA & PILATES
 

Yoga: A modern approach to the ancient form of yoga that integrates strength, balance, flexibility, and core training. This class is perfect for everyone and lasts one hour.

Pilates: A method focusing on postural symmetry, breath control, abdominal, spine, pelvis, and shoulder stabilization through complete range of motion of all joints. Train your whole body by integrating upper and lower extremities of the TRUNK.

PIYO: Experience Pilates and Yoga in one hour. This class blends our Pilates and Yoga classes in to one hour, offering the same components as described above.

Power Yoga:Power yoga is a ninety minute class that is designed for the experienced yoga enthusiast. It is a modern approach to the ancient form of yoga that integrates strength, balance, flexibility, and core training with added challenges and advanced techniques.

As with all exercise programs please consult your doctor first and inform instructors of any medical limitations. Age minimum for group exercise is 13. Please be aware of the “10 minutes of mercy” policy in which members have 10 minutes to arrive and participate in a class or wait until the next class is conducted or utilize the cardio fitness floor in the event that members are later than 10 minutes.
